An elaborate and delicious dinner with some friends from Holland at Crystal Jade in Causeway Bay. For good & affordable Shanghai food, I highly recommend Crystal Jade!
After our delicious dinner @Crystal Jade and dessert @Moon Kee in Causeway Bay, we headed back to Mongkok. On our way to Gold Fish Street, we passed by a street stall and since my friend from Holland has never eaten egg puffs before, I bought her a packet to try. She loved them!
Egg puffs, waffles,...
Street-side stall selling all kinds of skewered snacks: curry fish balls, meat balls, big squids, sausage, pig intestines, pig stomach, takoyaki balls,...
I was looking for a good Japanese restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and wanted to try something new other than sushi/sashimi. There was this review on the best authentic Japanese restaurants in last week's Eat & Travel Magazine so while browsing through it, the mouth watering yakitori pictures from Nishiki caught my eye! I decided to give it a try :)
Nishiki is nestled on the 1st floor of Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East. The place is not very big but its interior gives you a nice homely feel.
I guess Nishiki is a popular dining place cos there was a photographer shooting photos for another local food magazine. (there's a review on this restaurant in this week's U-mag too!)

My friend, who's a Japanese tutor and a real food lover, chose 11 kinds of dishes from the extensive menu. Minced chicken meat sausage with raw egg to start off! The sausage tasted really good! Juicy and tender! Must try!
Chicken kneecap cartilage (Nankotsu)
Beancurd salad
Chicken liver
Natto (fermented soy beans) stuffed with meat
I was told and warned that natto is a Japanese delicacy which has a very strong and powerful smell. As I'm open to any kind of food (except for cooked insects!) and since natto is not a common dish that you can find in every Japanese restaurant, we ordered a plate to try...
OMG!! My first bite was also my last bite cos natto STINKS!!! The taste was awful and couldn't stand the slimy texture! YUCK!! No more natto for me! :P
Deep fried chicken & cheese spring roll
Another must try: minced chicken meat wrapped with fried beancurd
Chicken skin garlic roll & beef tongue
Beef tongue was tasty, gonna order this again next time ^^
Chicken wing
Yummiest cold udon I've tried! Super fresh, silk smooth and chewy, totemo oishii! ^^
Caramel Latte accompanied with a piece of ultra rich blueberry cheesecake ^^ If you like blueberry cheesecake with a firmer texture then without a doubt you'll love this cake! If you prefer a light mousse-like texture I would say Cova's version is the best I've tried!
Ever tried these cute Chinese puddings? ^_^ You should if you've got the chance, cos they are delicious! Top one is mixed beans pudding (red beans, chick peas & lotus seeds), left one is coconut milk chick peas pudding, right one is black glutinous rice pudding and finally the one up front is mango pudding~
Before our coffee class started, we went to May Wong Fish Ball Noodle shop to try their fish balls and both me and my friend had the assorted fish ball rice vermicelli soup. The portion was quite big and @HK$22 only!
Light dinner, yummy & chewy fish balls with rice vermicelli ^_^
Sushi boxes from Yata! My parents went grocery shopping @ Yata the other day and when my dad saw these appealing assorted sushi and sashimi boxes, he couldn't resist and bought 5 boxes! ^^
Mum went shopping with my auntie in Tai Po's new wet market and got us these tasty chewy freshly made hakka cha guo's! Kai Xi Then, Ngyoi Paan and Bai Sin Paan cakes ^_^
